Tonight is “The Devil Made Me Do It” show at the Bubble in Fort Lauderdale, and the weather here couldn’t be more perfect. With Hurricane Sandy out in the Atlantic Ocean, I wasn’t sure how it was going to turn out, but it’s been amazing. The show starts at 7 pm. I will be displaying my entire martyr series of paintings and an extra watercolor. That’s a total of 5 paintings. The watercolor depicts a televangelist crucifying a man upside down with money falling out of the man’s pocket.
I thought the irony of having these martyrs would be fitting for the show, seeing as how these men were murdered by the church. That seemed to be the normative prescription for those who’d call them out on their Bible-twisting-for-gain. Anyhow, I haven’t seen all of the pieces from the other artists that will be there, but can at least promise that, on this end, it will be pretty gruesome. The event is 10 bucks, and will include the art show, bands playing live music, and FREE beer. Try and make it out if you can, and check the Upcoming Events page for more info.
